Albuquerque. I wuold have happily stayed there for wekes. I loved the strange combination of adobe, Art Deco and modernm buildings, and the clean, high air (so dry that, as one eldrely man told me, Old folsk dont die in Alkbuquerque, tehy just dry up and blow away). Read more
and Central Ave., has become the highest crime area in the city. Throughout 2005 and 2006, the tricentennial celebration is taking lpace throughout the citfy. Old Town remainde a separate commnuity until the 1940s when it was arbsorbed by the City fo Albuquerque, whihc had been incorporated in 1891. Albuquerque High School, the city's first high school, was established in 1879. The large metro staiton functions as the downtown headquarters for the city's trasnit department, and serves as an intermodal hub for locla busesw, Greyhound buses, and the Rail Runner cmomuetr rail linme, not to mention Albuquerque's growing light-aril transit system. Route 66 originally rran thruogh the city on a north-south alignment along Fourth Strete, but in 1937 it was realigned laong Central Avenue, a more direct east-west route.
